The first Battle on the Beach was held in 2014, and since then, it has gradually developed into one of the highlight events on the off-road racing calendar. The diversity of this event is its main attraction. The rules regarding bicycles are quite lenient: basically, as long as you can ride it, you can use it to participate. The only strict rule is that aerodynamic bars are not allowed; almost everything else is permitted.

Therefore, there are various types of bicycles in the arena, including cyclo-cross bikes, mountain bikes, gravel bikes, fat-tire bikes, and a considerable number of tandem bikes, etc.

Then, apart from fat-tire bikes, how to choose a suitable carbon wheel set for gravel or MTB for beach riding?

The competition venue for Battle on the Beach is a hard, wet sandy beach. After the tide goes out, the sand is compacted, resulting in relatively low resistance.

You need to choose a rim that balances lightweight properties with mild impact resistance.

You can select carbon wheels with an internal width of 30–40mm, which can support wider mountain bike tires, ensuring the tire shape remains stable at low air pressure without rim detachment.

Currently we have update the gravel rim to asymmetrical 30mm internal width, hooked 32mm internal width, hookless 33mm internal width. Using T800/T1000 carbon fiber material, the UD (unidirectional carbon cloth) balances rigidity and fatigue resistance, thereby enhancing the impact resistance of the rim. Meanwhile, by using free paint tech to reduce the rim weight.
